Last week they played each other. It was a close game. Reece and Johnny both scored a few times, and Ava got her first try! There may have been others who got tries too, don’t quote me on that. Super Subtraction!

We have been busy taking away, finding the difference between two numbers, counting back from a number and using the 'minus'/ 'take away'/ 'subtract' symbol. We found this cool song and have been watching it on our new TV.

Pirate Subtraction Song


The children have been working hard with subtraction. They have been counting back from the bigger number, covering holes on the Numicon pieces and drawing subtraction stories with flowers, rugby balls, lollipops and all kinds of wonderful things! The children have been using Maths vocabulary such as:  take-away, minus, difference, count back, subtract, symbol, equals, makes, leaves.

Room 15's touch rugby team!

Thanks Traci for these awesome photos. There are nine kids in the team, 8 are from Room 15: Maia Ava Valentino Kase Liam Finlay Charlie-Rose Elena Layton This was our second week and Valentino scored our only try – he’s really fast. But they all had a go and enjoyed themselves. Big improvement from last week There is another team called the Paparoa pirates blue from the kids in the class, but I don’t have any photos of them.
