Welcome to Week 4. Our 3 way conferences went really well last week, it was lovely to hear the children talking about their learning. We are both learning more about blogging and we are attending a staff meeting about it tomorrow so keep an eye on our page! We are very proud of it so far, thanks for the positive feedback. The children especially enjoy the Maths songs and links to interactive games. There will be photos added each week. Our blog can be accessed through: http://room1516paparoastreetschool.blogspot.co.nz The slideshows of photos posted though You Tube cannot be viewed by the public, only by people who have the link from our blog. Thanks to those who have been helping to fold the milk cartons. We leave the empty cartons outside Room 15 just before 3pm. Please help to fold the cartons ready for recycling if you have a spare couple of minutes. We really appreciate your help with this. The recycled cartons are used to make roof tiles and schools books in Thailand. We have a few lovely empty 2 litre milk bottles that have been made into watering cans for our gardens (check out the ones in class). We would like a few more if anyone would like to make some. Thanks ☺ We are experiencing a big problem with rubbish in the school playground, especially in the Junior area. Glad wrap and small food wrappers are the main problem as they can easily fly out of lunchboxes with the wind. Please try to minimize the amount of wrappers that are in lunchboxes. Small containers or fabric food wraps are far better than wrapping everything in glad wrap. Please remove bars and other snacks from wrappers at home when possible. The children often have problems opening the packets. The children are loving our skip counting in the mornings. There is another 100 board coming home today as lots of children have lost the one we sent out earlier in the year. It’s a good idea to have it on the fridge at their eye level. The children can practice skip counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. They could also +10 to a number by jumping down a square or -10 by jumping up a square. Take care and thank you so much for your ongoing support. Antonia and Dy ☺
